The space

Casa del Sol is the Penthouse of Dreamland Sanctuary, which is comprised of two totally independent Home Suites. Casa del Sol’s private entrance is located on the side of the house, which gives you access to a full two-story home.

Step into a luminous, open-concept living space adorned with artisanal decor and floor-to-ceiling windows that unveils breathtaking, panoramic lake and volcano views.

The lounge area invites heartwarming conversations amongst the vultures soaring in the blue-sky backdrop, and encourages relaxed evenings as you watch the glittering firefly show in the night skies. The floor-to-ceiling windows connects you to the outside, making you feel like you're immersed in the nature outside! Dreamland encourages you to be connected to the Earth by featuring a plush, floor-seating concept in all of the Sanctuary’s spaces.

You can step out and enjoy the day bed on the balcony directly from the living-room. The Kitchen is fully-equipped for your use!

The two bedrooms have Double-size cozy beds, soft linens, panoramic views, private balconies, and a view that connects you with the expansive, verdant surroundings. In addition to the bedrooms, the living room has 2 Single-size, comfy foam pads that can be used as beds.Waking up to the symphony of birds chirping each morning, and falling asleep to the array of cricketing sounds are gifts you’ll cherish from this Sanctuary!Each bedroom features a private bathroom, complete with an outdoor bathtub/ shower with magical views.

Full Home Access:

Guests have unrestricted access to the entire Sanctuary. From the expansive living areas to the serene bedrooms & private balconies, every space is yours to explore and revel in.

Enchanted Gardens:

Meander through our terraced organic gardens, where you can pick fresh, organic produce with our indigenous farmers or simply bask in nature's beauty.

Private Lakefront:

Venture down to our exclusive lakefront area, a serene spot perfect for morning reflections or evening relaxation reserved especially for you. Beach towels are provided.

Permaculture Initiative:

Dreamland Sanctuary’s Lakefront is home to our local Permaculture Initiative, a philanthropic project dedicated to educating local indigenous farmers on permaculture and organic agriculture principles. You are free to engage with our indigenous team members in our thriving permaculture zones. You are invited to explore the sacred terraced vegetable gardens, experience the all-natural bioconstruction (adobe, bajareiki, cob, and bamboo structures!), and immerse yourself in permaculture’s sustainable living practices. Please remember that the indigenous farmers only speak Spanish or the local dialect of Tz'utujil!

Please note that although Dreamland’s lakefront land is private & available for our guests’ enjoyment, it is interlaced with our Permaculture initiative. Therefore, you may experience one of our loving team members caring for the gardens encompassing the area.

Amenities Galore:

Every facility, from our fully-equipped kitchen to our bathroom offering awe-inspiring vistas from the bathtub,, is open for guest use. We also provide high-speed Wi-Fi, grassy terraces, and an outdoor fire pit, ensuring your stay is as comfortable as it is enlightening.

Restricted Areas:

For safety and privacy reasons, certain maintenance rooms and storage areas are off-limits to guests. Clear signage will indicate any such spaces.We invite you to make Dreamland your home, to explore, experience, and envelop yourself in the magic it promises.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

The car road to Dreamland (around the lake) is currently UNDER CONSTRUCTION and inaccessible to our usual recommended parking area. For parking, the only available option is in Santiago. However, please note:

- You will still need to take a boat across the lake to reach Dreamland.

- This parking is not guarded and closed at night, unlike our usual recommended parking.

- We strongly advise arriving by taxi instead. If you’re dropped off in Santiago, you can easily take the boat to Dreamland and arrive directly at the property.

- If you prefer to drive around the lake, please be prepared for a 10-15 minute walk to Dreamland, depending on construction zones and road accessibility.

Other things to note

Luxury with conscious, limited comfort:

Please note that being off-grid also means being mindful of the land. Even though the Sanctuary has luxury features for Guatemala, such as hot water, we are 100% solar-powered and therefore electricity and water are limited.

As such, the Sanctuary has a strict “no-use” policy on any of the following: Hair dryers & hair straighteners, toaster oven, electric water kettle, iron, Heating and A/C units, power tools.

Important Safety Aspects:

Our balconies offer breathtaking views which also means they have no railings, therefore they are not suitable for children, and are to be used with much precaution and at your own risk.

We have a camera that oversees the front of the house and the option to have onsite security guard for overnight safety, upon request.

Guest Support and Host Availability:

Victoria, our dedicated host, is available daily from early morning until 2-3pm (Guatemala time), meticulously ensuring flawless pre-arrival preparations and seamless check-in experiences. The check-in process is managed by our local staff member, Walter, who provides a comprehensive house tour akin to a presidential visit, and his contact details will be readily shared for any on-site requirements.

Extras:

The Mystical Yoga Farm is our sister partner facility, where they offer daily yoga sessions, vegan buffet meal options and sacred healing fire circles & ceremonies. It is located just 5 minutes walking from our Sanctuary.

We also offer a guided tour of the Permaculture Project if you are interested in learning more about respectful agriculture.

Host Note:

Because our space is off-grid and atypical, we reserve the right to filter our guests to make sure everyone is aligned on the expectations. We also aim to be very safe and careful and reserve the right to ask for government issued ID of the renter and all guests.

- To immerse yourself with nature by featuring outdoor bathtub/ shower overlooking the jungles: Although these bathing areas are private, they are a full open-concept without shower curtains or coverings. Additionally, being submersed in the jungle, insect friends may visit the showers, particularly at dusk hours.

- To embrace natural lighting by encouraging limited lighting: For your safety, please bring headlamps/ flashlights for walking outdoors at night.

- To experience nature’s organic terrain: In order to reach the sanctuary nestled on its private hill-top, you have to walk along an enchanting path. Please note the path up the hill is not paved. Rather, it is a natural path comprised of organic, make-shift rock & wood steps.

- To live with Earth’s Circadian rhythms by featuring minimal curtains: We recommend bringing eye masks.

- To shift your focus to your inner landscape by offering little-to-no mirrors in the spaces.

- To be connected to the Earth by offering primarily floor-seating in all spaces.

RAINY SEASON NOTICE:

During the rainy season, please be aware that larger insects, especially ants, may occasionally enter the house despite our use of repellents and other preventive measures. We do our best to control them, but some may still find their way inside. Additionally, mosquitoes are more prevalent in the garden during this time.

Please consider this when booking, as insect presence is increased during the rainy season.
